Ethiopia’s Overall Governance score in Ibrahim Index of African Governance has improved over the last decade (2012-2021) and has done so at an accelerated pace over the most recent five years (2017-2021).
“Ethiopia has improved in all four categories since 2012. Ethiopia has improved the most in Participation, Rights & Inclusion, driven by progress in the sub-categories Participation and Inclusion & Equality and Women’s Equality. With a score of 46.0 (out of 100.0), Ethiopia ranks 32nd (out of 54) in Overall Governance in 2021,” sated the Ibrahim Index of African Governance released today.
“Ethiopia has improved in 12 out of the 16 sub-categories since 2012. It has improved in all sub-categories of the Human Development category. The category to have seen the most sub[1]categories deteriorate is Security & Rule of Law. Ethiopia scores above the continental average for seven sub-categories and is among the bottom ten for two of the 16 sub-categories in 2021.”
“Ethiopia scores above the continental average for 31 of the 81 indicators. Ethiopia received the highest possible score of 100.0 for one indicator. Ethiopia improved in 56 out of the 81 indicators across the IIAG since 2012 and declined in 20,” according to the Index.
